Crap again! Now my driver's side window won't go back up

I already had this problem with the rear driver's side window, and I ended up putting a screw threw the track to hold it in place. Now my driver's window will not go up. How hard is it to fix this the right way? I've done power windows before, and I'm pretty sure the motor is okay. I think the metal wires are bound up in the plastic pulley again. God this car is really starting to **** me off.

I looked through the stickies and didn't see anything by craigb. Any more information where I can find the write-up?
edit: stumbled upon his page. Thanks!

spraying a little transmission fluid on the regulator lines really can restore some life to it

I'm fairly certain it is bound up. I can hear the motor running and the linkage is jerking. I will be heading to Ohio this weekend to fix the window, the exhaust, and the wheel bearing. Wish me luck...

Once the pulleys crack, it's lights out. Just replace them. It's not that hard to do and regulators are cheap -- $40 + shipping from Internetautomart.

Thanks guys! It was a piece of cake. Now my exhaust is quiet (flex pipe replaced), the wheel bearing is fixed, and my window goes up and down like a champ.

Feels good to get it into good condition again.

Oh, and I got 30 MPG round-trip to Ohio. I traveled over 1,000 miles and used the A/C when I was hot.
