need to paint bumper

on some spots of the bumper, the paint has faded and it shows the actual bumper (orange part), now if i want to repaint the bumper myself, can i just use a can of spray paint? if i do use spray paint, how many coats should i put? the color of my car is charcol grey, i don't know the color code.

haha spray paint is gonna look like sh** just sand down ur bumper with wet sand paper and just put fresh coat of real paint then a coat of clear. paint guns are expensive but they are a good investment in the future. PM me for addition advice on bodywork.

Go to paintscratch.com and it will direct you to the year, make and model of your car and the paint code. You can get a spraycan to paint your bumper with the exact color.

I actually have the same color and did what u want to do. First you sand the bumper down. Then tape it off and spray it with a primer. I used Plastikote because thats what was available to me. It would be nice to have all your paint products be the same brand, but if not I guess it won't kill you. I sanded it again and primered more. Then i put about 5-6 coats of color down followed by a few light coats of clear coat. It looks a hell of a lot better than yellow spots all over the place and water beads off it like no other but its not shiny and it doesn't exactly match the rest of the car. In the end it was worth it cuz I fixed my yellow spots and everything for about 20-30 bucks. I got pics of my car on my cardomain site here --> www.cardomain.com/id/gfizzle
