How much did auto-to-manual swap cost you?
Just curious, for all those who have swapped from auto tranny to manual, what it cost and about how much time did it take?
I do not have a garage right now (building a house, but in apartment for now) so I don't have the space to DIY right now... so I might have to take it to a shop.
My auto tranny is slipping. I think it has a leak as the fluid has been low too. It also clunks when I put it in reverse.
I assume its cheaper to just repair the current auto tranny, but I might pay a few hundred more for the swap. If the total bill gets over $500, imma just fix the existing auto or find a different car.
Any suggestions? I did get some links from other threads, seems to be quite popular these days :-)

I can picture the dealer charging that much with just labor alone, but I would find an independant shop for less.

Rebuilding a tranny costs $1-2k. I suppose you could buy a junkyard auto tranny for less than $500.

if you go to a junkyard and get all the parts it can be done for under 200$
but when you start replacing and upgrading things is when it starts to add up
things like the axles $60-80 a peice and there are 2 the clutch 100-300 and master 20-30 and slave cylinder 30-40 should all be replaced for maximum reliability also these transmissions have input shaft bearing issues and ive received 4 trans from various junkyards and all had bad input bearings and even though they are still usable i would sugest replacing that also. the bearing is only like 50$ but the labor would be alot if you couldnt do it yourself

92-94 will work but you will need to swap wheel hubs too

You aren't going to get a quality rebuild for $500 on an auto unless you know the guy doing the work.
If you play your cards right you can get 5spd swap stuff dirt cheap
For the VE tranny to a VG
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ighlight=axles
no, 89-91 5spd transmissons do not have LSD, only 92-94 SE's had the option.
Yes all 3rd gen transmissions will physically bolt up to either engine
search is your best friend.
