get a new mechanic. j/k. he is right on not havin' a drip pan but the VG auto tranny do have a filter. trust me i know cuz i've seen my old auto tranny when it was apart 3 years ago and my friend showed me the filter. its small and it requires for the tranny to be taken apart just to change a small filter. so yes the VG auto tranny do have a filter but u don't need to change it since it requires for the tranny to be pulled and taken apart. only time u do that is when u intend on rebuildin' the tranny.

1. there is no replacable filter, it's a metal screen that requires trans disassembly to clean it.
2. there is a pan, where do you think your tranny is leaking from

there is a filter....it's basically a metal screen. pretty much reuseable unless our tranny decided to shave gears and parts internally.

the "pan" is on TOP of the tranny

agree. I've recently had my tranny apart as well.
