a few things
1. you can't mix letters in with numbers

Thanks for that info. Questions for your smart people out there. Would this be a smart thing to put in my maxipad ?

http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Des...delDesc=Maxima

I know its auto but I wanna have at least some sort of performace in there..also can any of you recommend good brands/products to add perfomance?

For me getting a maxima whether VG/VE is a huge ugrade and I'll tell you why. Fall 2001 my mom bought me my first car 1988 Honda Accord LXi real decent shape just needed tranny that car has 120hp/130 tq which was is ok for a 15 year old. Finally last year it needed a head gasket so my moms friend sold us his 1989 Honda Accord LX it just needed a carb so we got it for 300 bucks in decent shape too, man was that a downgrade 98hp/108tq UGH huge difference in acceleration. With that POS everyone cut me off even freakin broke down cars, I tend to have road rage and always try to block people off from cutting me. Well with that POS there was nothing I could do but let everyone cut me off. Also the most that car can go is 87mph which made me late to work several times, in the old accord I did the max of 105 safely, I could've made it on time in that car.

So going from an 89 accord with 98hp would be a great improvement to a 160hp 93 maxima, yes I know 190hp 205tq is the way to go but for now I'm freakin happy that I got a maxima. Plus I finally get to challenge my ***got friend with his GayRetta GT. But you're right there's no perfomance compared to an SE. For now I'm just gonna keep this maxipad since I'm in college (I'm not rich as you can see) if the car runs great for a while I'll consider upgrading the engine and tranny. If the engine dies soon, then I get a VE either way.

So for now you wouldn't suggest doing light mods such as Underdrive pulley or CAI or headers? I know the CAI can help out with MPG so that justifies itself

Sounds like a plan, can you describe the item in more detail and what the benefits are and pricing. Also to mention I dont want to rice-afy my car with a fart can. if I were to get an exhaust (i dont know if a y pipe is part of that) I would like something nice and deep, not loud and annoying. Something similar to the sounds of a G35 or 350z.

Not sure if there are headers for the VG or not. Im going to make my own regardless. Ive got to pratice welding before I make my turbo manifolds.

I know what you mean as far as being limited, Ive been driving an 4cyl s10 (90rwhp) 5 speed (love the 5 speed hate the motor) and now I traded it for a much better mazda mx3, 4cyl, auto. its much faster then the s10 and better on gas, just wish it was a 5 speed. Handals awsome. Im just keeping it untill my 5 speed swap is done, then Im back to the real power that is my maxima.

I donno, like i said it was feb the last time i drove an auto, and when i was driving my 5 speed parts car it was night and day better, but it was also missing at idle, down on 1 or 2 cylnders. so when i get my new max running it should be much better, but then again it'd be a 5 speed and your an auto. it was still very peppy tho, you'll thoroughly enjoy it compared to those 4cyl sh1tbox's you had before

My stock VG Auto was pretty quick. Had a friend time me once to 60mph. Was about 8.9 seconds. Not the best way to check though, but good enough for me. Im pretty sure the 5spd could do it better though. After about like 80-90 or so, it's like you hit a wall though. Not the best high speed action I would say. Once you get up to like 120 though, its pathetic.

lol I actually liked my 88 Accord LXi, it was decent compared to that slower crappy 89 LX...too bad that it has a fender bender, leaking head gasket that voided my new alts warranty, cracked radiator neck, and some other minor stuff...Oh well, this new maxipad will have a loving home where it will get sex everynight j/k

I don't know about all of you guys, but if your car (maxima or otherwise) can't hit 85+MPH you have a serious problem. I had a geo metro and I got a ticket in it for doing 80+.

Colombianmax- if you do blow the engine, swapping to a VE will be a beatch unless you have a complete running donor car to swipe all the computer, wiring, etc off of. it's more straight forward to swap in the VG30ET (single T no D) which still won't be easy.
Just enjoy the car, and realize that even in moderate traffic you can still do 105 on the 90/94 while racing some riced out camaro just don't do it though.

I got stopped on the Accord LX that wont go past 87mph for doing 93mph in Rockford,IL If the Maxima can easily go over that, I'm gonna need a good radar detector..

Also you know what..all that engine work sounds sooo long and complicated that just thining about it makes me lazy, not to mention that I wouldn't be the one doing the work. So in conclusion as to swapping the engine, I'll just get another car and part this.

Whats the difference on those engines you listed to the VG30E?

the VE is the DOHC motor that was used in the SE from 92-94
the VG30ET was used in the Z31 (84-89 300ZX)
The T stands for turbo

Thanks, I kinda figured the T out since there's GTI 1.8T Audi 1.8t 2.7t and a couple others with the T for turbo. That turbo engine sure does sound tempting..

Oh by the way just got back from DMV got my plates
143 new plates/sticker
75 city sticker
25 Tax
243 total...POS state/city

I buy and sell more cars than the average joe, I'm also the guy EVERYONE asks about titling and registration.
I've been known to get titles to cars that don't have a title

we don't have inspections here
we also have special use plates here
with a little creativity I probably could, but it would be a beatch to explain it to someone in another state
