iacv replaced

iacv replaced
I just got done replacing my IACV. I was going to clean out the old one, but I decided I'm better off just replacing it. here is what the old one looked like
Pretty dirty... in conclusion I probably wasted my money buying a new one over cleaning the old one and now I'm left with a few questions. As I was replacing the IACV, I noticed the part on the engine where it bolted up to was pretty dirty as well. Will cleaning that out help as well? My cars idle has improved significantly, instead of being rough and moving up and down extremely, its now soft and moves up and down slightly. Also, should I use TB Cleaner or Carb Cleaner?

Mine was far dirtier than that and I got a used one and cleaned it up really good. You basically can't clean them very well with it still on the engine. If you take it off, it will clean up nicely and improve your idle.
I use Valvoline SynPower carb, choke and throttle body cleaner:

Or, did you get a junkyard one? $160 seems like an awful lot for a junkyard one, but not enough for a new one. There are probably guys with parts cars here that would sell one for a lot less than that.
I took a pipe cleaner and TB cleaner and went to town. I tried to rinse all of the goop I loosened up with the pipe cleaner out with the blast from the TB cleaner.

I got a new one, maybe it was 170 or 180... but no more than that. I got it from Autozone and its new not remanufactured. When I ask about cleaning it, I'm not talking about the IACV itself, I'm talking to the part you mount it to. And do you wait for the TB Cleaner to dry up once you've gotten as much crap out as you can or what? Sorry I just don't want to take a chance in messing anything up. My idle seems to be progessively be getting better since I've installed the new IACV,
