CV Joints

Hey all. I am going to change out the passenger side cv joint this weekend. It seems to be pretty straight forward. Do I need to buy pivoting angle sockets? About how long? It looks like three of the bolts are at a reach. Thanks for any advice.

Separate at this point from the axle support

once ya do get those bolts off, that support bearing bracket can be a real pia.
I followed some org advice and pre-doused the whole deal with pb-blaster the night before. once the bolts were off (and if you don't have a lift) you can drop a long crowbar down from the top, line it up on the section closer to the wheel (look at the pic) and hit at an angle till it turns. once you get it to turn you can seperate it with some effort like in MyGreen's pic.
yeah, have fun

If you can do both, some things should just be done in pairs. More than likely you will be replacing the other soon.

sounds good. It does seem like it is going to be a blast. I intend on doing the other side really soon. The passenger one is completly shot, though. So you suggest using a crow bar to separate the joint from the support. Well thanks I may back on tomorrow asking for more advice.

1st line up the crowbar to hit it on an angle, you want to position it so the hammer shots will spin the thing, once it turns the bonds will be weaker and you can seperate the two with a wedge.
