another max in future??

well since my tranny is acting up again, i think it would be easier just to get a new car, there is a black 1993 SE (i think and hope) 5 spd with 80,000 miles for $2,300 around me thry had teh car for over a month and i still didnt get to see it yet, got there 5 minutes after they closed and i also called and asked if they could stay for a minute or two later for me just to look at body condition. so i didnt get to see it and it is over 50 one way to the car. i am pissed but i want a VE 5 spd, i think they can lower the price alot, the front axle is clicking they said, one owner, they also said spoiler (does that mean a SE?) i want this car, but they close at 4:00 P.M. and i get out of school at 2:00 and most days i work..... cant go back until monday if it has a spoiler, does it mean it is an SE? i havent seen pics of it yet.

ya i know what the motors look like and such, i was wondering if the GXE had an option for a spoiler in a 1993, i think 1991 spoiler was only SE, but im not sure about 1993 models. if it is a GXE i do not want it, if SE, and good condition, i am all over it!! and time to sell the 91' fun times with her......

The best way to make sure it is a 1993 SE is to look at the engine.....Not the spoiler.....Any previous owner could have put a spoiler on it....

if it's a 5-spd, then odds are it is indeed an SE.

what happened to the 5 speed swap you've been saying you were going to do? now seems like the perfect time

A lot of dealerships put spoilers on GXEs to make them look better. My stepmom bought a 4th gen GLE and it had a dealer installed spoiler + the third brake light in the back window -- two high mount lights when she drove it off the lot :

If you don't have a chance to look at the engine, look at the gauges. Unless someone swapped them, a 92-94 SE has white gauges with a speedo that goes to 145 instead of 125.

you guys keep ignoring the EASIEST way. Does it have chrome trim around the windows or black?
you can see that from a pic easily and very few people change that ever.
just my thought

True. There are several ways to tell a GXE from an SE, also from pre-92 and from 92+up but some of the differences are subtle.
