Sherman williams sells xylene for 11 dollars and change a gallon. If you can buy it in a 5 gallon drum, it is roughly $35.

Lowe's and Home Depot sell it for 12-13 dollars a gallon.

You can buy a barrel for about $300.

so, 1 gallon = $12, 5 gallons = $7/gallon, 55 gallons $5/gallon.

Now I just bought this '92 SE and I only got to fill it up twice so far, and both times it almost gave me a heart attack. Over $40 a tank. It cost around $3 per gallon for Super around here. I've been using an '91 Integra as my every day driver for the last couple of years, and the difference in the gas milage is HUGE! I figured I get 16-17 miles per gallon on this maxima. My DSM gets about 15 to 17 mpg, and I don't mind paying for Super Unleaded on that car, it's REAL FUN to drive, oh, and I only drove it on weekends.
I know that Maxima suppose to get 19 to 24 mpg, but how bad could it get?
I was gettin 12-14mpg because of a bad y-pipe and being a bit of a lead foot and short hop driving.

you only NEED the premium if you have disabled your knock sensor, otherwise you can run 87 it just won't have as much power supposedly.

what is the actual formula for adding this to gasoline. meaning the ratio that you posted. is it linear or is there an actual formula to help pinpoint the new octane rating. i dont plan to run a full tank at the track.

formula is:

((Octane of gas in tank) x (gallons of gas in tank) + (octane of additive) x (gallons of additive)) / total gallons.

Octane of xylene is 118, toluene is 114, and i dont remember kerosene acetone or ethanol. I don't suggest acetone or ethanol or methanol in a street car.
