...and I knew I was in trouble when my exhaust passed me...
Bought a MAF adapter and filter from a .org member, after all the trouble I'd had finding one to fit, I figured I'd go with one someone else had already successfully used.
Now the problem is, I looked at the adapter, and it's round, 3 inches, but the plate is square, outside AND inside. So picture a perfect circle, and a perfect square inside of the circle, touching on all four corners. That's what it looks like. But I said, hey, a little more turbulence, but can't make THAT much of a difference.
But now my engine struggles mightily when I give it some real gas, like it's really bogged down. Strugg-lll-iiing, and Joe Namath would say. Light pressure on the gas=very little hesitation. Mash the gas=engine shudder as it labors. It's got a nice growl under load, but doesn't do a thing hardly for acceleration. Could it be that turbulence, or did I inadvertently kill my MAF?
I'd say my 0-60 times when from 7 and a half to more than double that.
The guy in the Frito-Lay truck pulled on me from the light. Wasn't even close. Bastard.

Werd, I will take pics during lunch. Well maybe. May have left my 7/16 at home.
Filter is clean, I actually used my Akimoto Funnel Ram which I cleaned/reoiled. He gave me a nice K&N Typhoon looked like, but it was about 1/2 inch too long.
It looks very similar to this:

wow!!!...that's a very...uhm...interesting piece there....
run the car without the adapter (not drive...just run it) and see if the symptoms go away. if they do then try to take a dremel to the "baffles" in the adapter...this won't eliminate the turbulence but it'll sure cut down on it

I'm 90% sure that's what's causing your problems. with that crappy adapter, you just choked off about half your intake flow!
either dremel the square part out, or spend a few bucks on the right adapter and you rproblems will go away.

Yeah, I know, I know...

But I did it late, and my old car the computer took about a day to adjust properly to the additional airflow and then all was well. Apparently this is not it because it's been about 24 hours and it runs exactly the same. Crappy Northeast weather didn't help either.
Methinks I'll be taking it off when I get home and dremmeling inside tonite. Hope I've got a decent disc.

LOL indeed. But I've still got you in mind if I need that MAF.
Wonder if it was on it's way out anyway which is why I would get that hesitation beforehand (although nowhere near like I've got now).
Just about time to limp home.

Two cutting disc and a coarse sanding disc later, I put it back in. Started 'er up, played with the throttle under the hood. Sounded hesitant still. Thinking MAF. But I said lemme drive it around the block just in case.
EUREKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She's all better now. And a nice growl to boot. Once I get that piping from the accord intake to get rid of that resonator, watch out Frito guy! I'm comin' for ya!

ehhh... I just took this flange off, and had it trimmed down to 3". All I had to do was get shorter bolts. (ps, thanks to Wiking for finally getting a pic of the flange, though he trimmed the wrong part I might add.)
