3rd and 4th Gen STS options...........

I'm sure this has been beat to death but I just bought my First Maxima (93SE Black 5spd with 60K original on the clock) and was wondering if the 4th Gen and 3rd Gen Short Throw Shifters were interchangeable? Who makes the best, quality vs. price, for the money? (B&M, Ebay STS, Pacesetter etc.)

Thx

3rd and 4th gen STS are not directly interchangeable. If you do some fab work, I think you can use the 4th gen. Someone on this board (Matt maybe?) put one in a while back.

Stillen and Pacesetter are the only places that make a 3rd Gen STS. There is another name for the Pacesetter one, but it is the same thing. Stillen is non-adjustable, but supposedly is the best quality. Pacesetter is adjustable is what most people with an STS have.

Oh, very nice find of a VE 5-speed with such low miles. Take good care of it

awsm66 is the guy that fabbed the 4th gen sts to work, I have the pacesetter, and its not really as bad as some people make it out to be, just make sure you dont tighten it's retaining bolts down too much, and grease the hell out of it, mine feels just like the stock shifter, just a bit shorter and a shorter throw, in all its worth the $30 i paid for it

because a lot of people have gotten stuff that is of poor quality, and or doesnt look that great, a buddy of mine got a set of headers from them for his LS1 camaro, and he said they where good for what he paid for them, he just needed to clean up some of the welds with a grinder before he finished them, I forget if he painted them or coated them.... I think he painted them

as far ast teh STS, it works for what i need it to do, and i like the way it feels

yup it was me.

go to my old 92 site and you will see what you need to do.

IMO I would get the B&M knock off on ebay for pretty cheap and drill the holes on the shifter support (shown on my site). That way you will not have to worry about the bearing and it is better quality than the PS.

first time on the site in a while...hopefully I havent missed too much.
