intermitent wiper problem

ok so my wipers only work on one speed and even when they do they stop in the middle intermitently. everyone said it was the time control unit but i unplugged it(no power) and still the wipers work, and intermitently dont. now either i dont know where the tcu is(in alldata it said it was under the dash right of the column next to the door lock timer) or i have another problem. any ideas?

The time control unit is to the left of the steering wheel....Behind the antitheft box.....I got one if you want it.....

the wipers will still work if you unplug that one, but at only 2 speeds slow, and really fast, no in between. There are other tell tale sign that indicates the problem with that box. One is your dome light not dimming off when you close the doors, and two, is that your none of your dash light will work either (but that had been linked to the brake lights as well.)

Also, check the switch on the steering column, maybe the contacts are either too dirty or too worn, thus sometimes giving current to the wiper motors, while may not at other times (wiper stopping in the middle means there is no power to the motor), also, check the wiper motor itself, maybe it's been in there too long and may have a slight drag due to rust or something.

Just throwing ideas out there.
