Trunk lid
Trunk lid
So i go to pop my trunk last night, i heard the click comign from the trunk, but the lid didnt unlatch, and still wont i have to use the key to open it, anyone know what the problem is?
Most of the time this is happening because the lock mechanism has a safety switch which can be used to keep the trunk from being opened from the inside release. It's on the inside of the trunk, above the bumper near the hook.
Mine had this problem for a while.
Then it got so bad that the safety switch would filp everytime i closed it, reguardless of force used.
In the end, my lock froze and I had to replace the cylinder entirely.
Funny thing is, my Maxima requires 3 keys on my keyring. One key just opens the doors, another only opens the trunk, and when I had to get my Igniton cylinder replaced, I have another key that just starts the car!

hahah thats classic
you know for only a couple of bucks most lost smiths can rekey your locks so that you you only have one key or at least cut it down to 2 have your trunk rekeyed to match you door. if you take the lock to a lock smith it will save you money too!... Just a thought
