Lowered Alignment

I've been calling around and there is NO place that can really do alignment on my car for cheap. I just say its lowered and they pretty much say no. The best price I've gotten (if they were even able to align the vehicle) is 85 bucks up to 200 and thats just a one time no warranty thing. I think I heard Jeff talking about how he got his alignment on a lifetime warranty, and he is lowered. How do I get this thing set up for cheaper? I know I'm going to dig into the suspension again sooner or later and don't want to drop 85 every time I do.

alright, yeah I was looking for a lifetime because I know I will have this thing apart at least twice the next year and the only lifetime place is Firestone by my house. Those shops can do the alignment and have it actually be aligned? I was worried that they would align it like they would for a stock max, and then have it be off.

I use NTB, they align your ACTUAL suspension, instead of trying to read it off a chart, as if it was stock

Wurd. I took mine to NTB. They had me go out to the bay and tune it with a tech. I got -.7 fronts and -.9 rear. I love it. And it was about 50 for the alignment that took an hour and a half to get it perfect. Heh....

just take it in and don't tell them it's lowered. the car's setup doesn't change much at all, except your camber will be slightly out of spec... but you want a bit of negative camber in your setup. what you get when running regular aftermarket springs is just about right...
so just take the thing in, pay for the lifetime warranty alignment, and call it a day. as long as you're not in there every week, they don't usually throw a hissy fit.

as for whether they can do the job or not depends on the actual shop itself and the techs working in there. most of them have well trained employees that know what they're doing, but you can always find a place or two with incompetent staff.

Who is NTB?

What other chains do the lifetime besides firestone? Everyone I've called kind of laughed at me for the lifetime question. Thanks for all the responses, Matt its good to know that "original specs" on eibachs will make the alignment just right.

I thought the rears are pretty hard to mess up...My car has been unaligned since i wrecked my last max and the fronts were down to the metal and popped and the rears are wearing evenly.

Sears huh?...we have one by the mall, so that could make the wait not so long.

I gave NTB the camber bolts, and they only had to use one of them, and got my $hit perfect.

I have the Eibachs and they needed the camber bolt on one side to get it perfect. You may not, depending on the condition of your car. They run about $25. I'd say get them just in case, the guys at NTB say that they make it MUCH easier.

oh, so NTB (sears) is totally cool doing cars with suspension mods? Do they carry the camber kit in their shop so I don't have to go out and buy it?

the frontcamber kits are an odd looking bolt. The rear to make them the full camber adjustable you need to switch out the stiff parralell links and install adjustable ones. Chances are you won't need them if want just a factory tune, or really close.

Definatly walk in there with the front camber bolts in hand.

Be careful for very slammed rides over 2". Sometimes it's the ramps and actual lift equipment that doesn't like lowered cars as they can't get em on & off easily. I used to deal with Just Tires but they didn't have the latest Hunter optical equipment and couldn't get any readings when I went below 1.75".

Most of the time they're just nervous about custom settings and wasting their shop time on people who don't know what they're doing.
