Power Locks.
Power Locks.
My power locks have been out for a few years. They come back on occasionally, most notably when its a really hot day.
The dealership gave some mumbo-jumbo answer last time it was taken in. Anyone else have this problem?
If so, how did you fix the auto-locks, I want to get them fixed, but don't really feel like tearing off panels aimlessly when someone might already have a solution that works.
Am open to all coments and suggestions.
Thanks.

my power locks work sometime than they quit regardless of weather. with mine if i take the lower dash panel below the steering wheel and mess with the connection at the lock module it comes back on (for a while) if i hit the lock button (or is it the unlock button, only one works) i can hear the module click but does not unlock the doors or lock them for that matter. when it does work if i hit the button it locks if i double tap it it unlocks. once in a while when the car get mad it locks the doors by it's self regardless if the doors open or closed, car running or off. I finally completely removed the locking system from the doors. so none of my doors have locks. of course they also don't have door handles either.
BUT my piont was it's my module. use a light tester or preferable a multimeter and check to see if there is a current comeing to and from the module. if you have current coming to it but not out when you hit the switch it's the module. if there is a current to and from than you know you have a bad connection somewhere in the system. of course you might have a bad switch if you have no signal to the module. just to let you know even if 1 or 2 actuators go out the other 2 should work. Also not trying to be a smart a** but check the fuse first. sometimes it's the smallest things that give me the most crap!!
A little help also is the module under the dash is to the right of the steering column.
the wire for locking the doors is gray/red. it's a negitive connection.
the wire for unlocking is light blue. it's a negitive conection too.
as far as the rest i have no clue!

You need to replace the door lock timer.....It is to the right of the steering wheel...I have a used one if you want it...
Read the stickies. It is VERY easy to fix the door lock timer. Basically remove it and resolder around the area of the relay on the board. Use magnification and inspect the board for solder joints that have cracks in them and solder them too. Many here have fixed theirs doing this.

Zipties have no electrical properties and cannot 'cure' the lock. If problem cause is loose connectors [intermittent], first correct the problem, connectors. The wires have surely to be tied as they once have been.
"what to do with the lock switch. Any ideas?"
- pls explain the current situation. The lock/sw/mechanism is there... or is not?

On the topic of powerlocks, can anyone tell me why, when I lock my car and close the door, the power locks unlock? I have to close the front door, open the rear driver's side door, and push driver's side door lock down and close the rear door to lock the car.

Or format your HD, reinstall win-dowser and never touch IE. Buy more memory; after ˝GB you may take out the windows swap file and be free of its most repulsive disk fragmenting feature working havoc on u files...
Dont be afraid of viruses - win dowser is biggest!
