There are only a handful of guys that have them.

I am sure it will save you a fair amount of weight, but probably not worth the extra expense. I think they run like $500+ for one.

Now that is rice. When you go to get weighed in everyone will wonder why it hasn't lost weight and is still running stock times.

I had one of the original FI C/F hoods. It weighed substantially less (IIRC around 50 lbs vs 12 lbs or something like that) but it didnt fit right and squeaked like a biatch against the hood pins.

i have been looking for one since i bought my Max and it wasn't till a couple of weeks before i was shown someone that makes them without haveing to order 10 at a time. There is Altered Ego who is a retailer for Fiber Images. They start at $525+shipping up to $650 for colored + shipping. Check it out It's the cheapest retailer of Fiber Images that I have been able to find.

$600 + hood pins + poor fitment = not worth saving 40lbs of weight, imho.

I don't actually own one, but the people I've talked to about theirs (you not included) said the fitment wasn't perfect. $600 to save 40lbs isn't worth it regardless of fitment (again imho).

So when you do think you will be old??

IMO if you put $600 into the engine to make it faster you your gains will be much more than taking 40lbs off the front end....

You could find a junkyard hood to replace your bent hood for $100-$150

A few tenths but it'll still be something noticeable than not killing that 40 lbs.

C'mon... you know the fitment between the sides of the hood and the fenders isnt too good. Looking at a profile view of the car... the hood sticks up further than the fenders in the middle, and you can see all the way down into the gap there and see the ridges/screws/bolts on the tops of the fenders in the engine bay. It wasnt terrible fitment by any means and was probably much better than many, but the whole vertical gap on the sides always bugged me

However, having said that... I was able to correct this almost fully by really having my hood pins 'push' the front of the hood down and thus bow it in in the middle a little bit, but I shouldnt have had to do that

I have the same problem plus it adds alot to the style of the car. IN MY OPINION!!!
Besides it's not that hard to install a hood rod. Take one off a junked car find a god spot drill a hole. Your done!

you can adjust the fenders so they sit closer to the hood, and the latch and the rubber stoppers in the front so it sits lower, it needed some tweeking but Id say for an aftermarket part it fits pretty damn good.

Speaking of Carbon Fiber, I just read the most recent Modified Mag and saw an article on an R33 GT-R that had Silver Carbon Fiber. I have been lusting after that for quite a while. Does anybody know if it is generally available or is it super rare? Thanks.

Wow! Looks great! I didn't know it would be so readily available. This is the first time I've seen silver for our cars. I have a silver Max and always thought a black hood wouldn't look good, but this changes things. Obviously I'll have to do other maintenance and mods first, but this a something worth shooting for.

BTW, is the fitment being discussed just part of a batch that was specially made for a group deal or should I also be concerned about the hoods being advertised from Fiber Images in the above post? Thanks.

since its from FI there gonna be using the same mold they usd for the first 10 so any fitment issues would still be there.

Well, I was JOKING, but since you asked...the hood IS heavy, but if you're paying $500 + just to remove some weight....there are probably cheaper things you can do....$hit, how much do you think you could shave off THE DRIVER?

You have another option...ask internetautomart to sell you the hood from his booted and towed maxima, and then you can go on a diet and lose 40 or more pounds

AND you can buy that huge carbon fiber sticker if you still wanna look cool lol
