I have read a lot of posts about transmissions on here and the talk about getting codes from it but dont know how to retrive them and no check engine light on. Just got done putting the motor and tranny back in had to replace all the freeze plugs on the block, one was leaking between the block and tranny.

Just bought my first Maxima last week. Found a 93 Maxima SE in great condition. I paid quite a bit over blue book value, but it was a one-owner with 102k miles and as I said in great shape (only problem I've noticed so far is some minor tears in the leather). Looking forward to learning more about these great cars.

New too New

I am also new to this forum. Looking for all the tips I can get. Just purchased a 1990 (3rd Gen) Maxima as a project car.

What I really need at this moment is a really good manual with exploded diagrams of the engine, transmission, and electrical.

And a good Nissan Shop other than a Nissan Dealer in the Lampasas, TX area.

G'day from Australia

Hi guys, just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been driving my 'September 92' Maxima ever since i got my liceAnse. 2 years ago I decided to retire the beast and let the rego run out as it seemed a lot of things started going wrong with it all at once. It's been sitting all that time. The other day I got in it, got all sentimental and made a huge decision. I decided to get it going again. Basically the main problem was the tappet head gaskets needed replacing. So rather than pay a fortune to a mechanic I researched how to do it and changed the gaskets myself. Did a sweet job considering I make a living behind the sewing machine making sexy lingerie.

The other day (while researching how to do the gaskets) I saw these cool digital clusters that came out on the earlier models and was sold. So much so that I just bought a working digital cluster on Ebay complete with HUD and pigtails. Cost me $99 + delivery. Unfortunately no fuel sending unit. Hopefully I'll find one along the way. I'm hoping even though my car is right hand drive that it will still fit ok, and all I need do is the wiring. It should arrive in a couple of days I just want to give my old ride a new face lift and make a few of my mates who look at the dash at night go... PPPHHHOOOAAARRR!!!

But yeah I really just wanted to join a group and mix with a few like mined peeps instead of hearing all the negativity from my friends saying that I'm wasting my time and money.

Cheers!

phantom superchargers

Anyone here hear of the phantom superchargers? Looks to be pretty impressive.Apparently the only electric supercharger so far that doesn't appear to be an eBay scam or something. They've tested it with the scion frs so far. Looks like it's worth researching. It appears to be an electric motor powered by a 24v battery powering a turbo housing and looks to be a fairly simple setup compared to parasitic belt driven or turbo options. Anybody with a little more experience than I want to take a look and possibly p.m to let me know what you think? I was possibly looking into trying this application but would appreciate any feedback or input on it. Thanks
