As far as we know there's only one person who's put a VQ in thier max, and if I remember right it was the VQ30DE-K from a 00-01. It's not a bolt-in swap for the 3rd gen so people don't attempt to do...or maybe they attempt to but we don't hear about their sad ending

It looks like he has a digicam. Just call him up and have him email a pic. Unless it's close enough for someone to look at in person. If you do, bring some kind of digital camera.
That would be an extremely labor intensive swap, since basically nothing in the engine bay is the same from a VG to a VQ. I would have put a lot more info about an engine swap than that if I were selling it.
Car looks decent. That's an aftermarket (non-factory) spoiler.

I'm sure its just another VG out of a 96 Nissan truck. The vans had some engine changes and probably wouldn't be the best to put in unless you want greater reliability, not that its bad in the first place though.
The van VG's are non-interference so if a belt broke you won't do any damage to the valves. The power output is slightly lower though.

151 hp @ 4800 rpm and 174 ft. lb. torque @ 4400 rpm.
Ford was the one that pressured Nissan to change the engine around so that it wasn't an intereference design.
Being non-interference would be nice... but you just can't mess with the awesome VG like that.

the nissan quest got the vg during 94-03 and after that,
the 04 model got the vq engine, so nissan quest had the vg for straight 10 years until nissan decided to redesign quest and put in the vq same time,
so that all the info i know about the nissan quest,
the quest is a lot slower then the max,

Supposedly the heads are the same design... but I have no clue really. I've never messed with a VG33. I do know that a lot of people use them as upgrades from the VG30 in higher powered Z31's, but the VG30 still can do an excellent job.
