*Finally resolved* My 92 got hit! ::PICS::

So i have 2 maximas, a 92 and a 98. The 92 is currently uninsured and unregistred and straight up pain in the neck. The car seems to have never run correctly (rough idle, spuddereing acceleration) and it has been sitting in my driveway for a while now and im ready to sell it for about 1500. (car has 148k). Well we got a new driveway put in today so i had to move my car. Moved it, left it on the street and one of the workers backed into it (im still not sure weather it was a pick up truck or a machine) and pushed the car about 10 feet

Hard to tell from the pics, but the car needs a new trunk cuz who whole truck is bent, new light, new maxima thing between the lights, possibly a new bumper, spoiler, and there is some frame damage that u can see about the light. well I talked to the owner of the company, and he insisted that we go threw insurance and i said that it was fine with me. So wut do u think i can expect from the insurance company? You guys think its totalled? If its not totalled will they just right me a check for the damage and do i have to get it fixed or can i just say take the check and sell the car for parts? BTW, there is some body damage behind the rear tire that kinda looks like it happened in the accident.

That will most likely be totalled. Take the inurance check, buy the car back and sell for parts I guess. Or just take the $ and be done with it.

I think that you should be able to fix the car with the difference between what they give you, and what you buy it back for. Not including parts, which you can get cheap from junkyards, or other .org members, I'd say take it and the parts to a shade-tree body shop, and they should charge you more than a few hundred ($500 max) to fix it.

an Auto VE?
is it still driveable?
if the price is right I'll buy it whole now that it's been injured the price drops way down, heck I was only able to get $700 for a red VE5 because it had a dent in the quarter

Since it sounds like you aren't all that interested in messing with it, I would just try to get as much out of it as you can then let the insurance company total it and haul it away.

You might want to come up with some figures so you negotiate more out of them. See what they offer you first and then tell them that's not enough, blah blah blah.

They are supposed to give you "fair market value" so if you can come up with several ads with cars of the same year and mileage, that can help your cause. I think the private party Kelly Blue Book would be a good start, too. That is probably going to be more like $2500. It's a super PITA to deal with most insurance companies, so I wish you luck...

Thanks for the tips guys. Hopefully it will be totalled so it wont have to worry about selling it and i can just get rid of it. If its not totalled it will be for sale to anyone cheap based on the price of the damage. And yes it is driveable, drives well just has a rough idle. I will be sure to keep you guys posted how things go with the insurrance company

I smell a joint venture coming on... J/K. I want a place out in the middle of no where, at least 10 miles outside of a city. Chicago area is just too big for my tastes.

I'd love to be in the middle of nowhere.
Heck I've thought about starting a jewish community out there just so I could have my toy lot and still be able to do my religion thing.

Just to get anything NICE... I have to drive to Denver, 7 hours away. Or have it shipped in. Rapid City is alright, and has some things... but not a lot. There's only 2 places in town that sell any performance parts... and one of them is strictly Muscle car stuff.

well it looks like that thing getting hit was a blessing for you. line someone up to buy it after the insurance company totals it. and you can both be happy.

thats what i did with my audi 5000 when i was rearended, bought it back and sold it.

Hey well it finally got resolved. The driveway company acted really shady about going threw insurance even though they already said that they insisted that they would. IMO i think that the driver who drove into my car (not the owner of the company who i originaly thought it was) did not have a licence or permit to be driving that truck that drove into my max (or his green card for that matter). Now i know i could have taken him to court to have him go threw the insurance company but I had already smashed the rear window to increase the damage hoping it will be totalled. He offered me 1000 dollars for the damage and I can keep the car. I told him i didnt want the car and told him to give me 1500 and he can keep the car, and he agreed. The car was for sale at the time for 1500 so it didnt bother me. Well my max is gone now and now i can finally focus on my baby

(98 5speed with options (hehe))

Who was the one acting shady again?

You must have really wanted to get rid of that car badly, it sounds like if you would have taken the money from the company and sold the car you could have got at least an extra $500. I'm glad you're happy with it though
