Fuel Pump Issue/Relay Location
Well my good ole max stranded me at LaSalla bank during lunch. Missed 5th hour but got a ride back to school from a friend. Had it towed, and started playing with it. It has spark, but no fuel pressure. We pulled out the back seat, tested all 4 connections on the fuel pump with a light when turning on and starting the car, and only one had a small light (probably fuel gauge?). So I am guessing it is a bad relay. The one in the fuse box in the compartment (15A) is fine. Where are the relay(s) or fuses associated with the fuel pump? I am driving my honda, and really miss the max. Also, is this relay something I can pull from a VG, or should I buy a new one?
Thanks,
Geoff

Wow that is exactly what happened to my car. It didn't start, had it towed home, exact symptoms as yours. Last night I changed the fuel pump relay and it started, I drove it around to check it out let it run for about 30 min and everything was great. Come this morning it wouldn't start!! I haven't had time to look at it because I had to catch the train to get to school but needless to say I'm pissed. Did the relay fix yours? I just hate to think I have a short somewhere that's killing the relays.

Just looked at my car and there is no power getting to the relay, great. The Chilton's wiring diagram shows it coming from the computer. The computer fuses/relay are ok, so maybe the wire is broken somewhere along the line? This is frustrating, anyone offer any advice?

Relay Power
I don't have the book in front of me, but I remember that the connector under the rear seat that goes to the fuel pump also goes to (or comes from ) the relay. One of the pins in that fuel pump connector should have continuity with one of the pins on the relay connector. I can't remember which ones, perhaps someone can help here. This test is in the book under the fuel pump diagnostic section.

I can tell you what I had to do with my 92SE.
I had a no-start condition, but the fuel pump worked just fine with 12 volts applied externally at the connector under the seat. I traced the wire all the way from the ECU to the fuel pump relay. The wire was good, but it was not sending the signal to the relay. What it was supposed to do was complete the ground circuit on the relay coil, so that the relay would energize and run the fuel pump. This wire does not power the fuel pump, only the relay. I could never figure out why it was not working, so I just rigged it. Put a jumper wire in place of the relay, and the car ran fine.
All I lost was the 5 second safety feature, you know where the pump only runs for about 5 seconds with the ignition on and engine off. Just have to be careful and not leave the key on too long with the engine off.

I was thinking of doing something like that but was afraid that I would start blowing fuses. My problem sounds exactly like yours oldngivout, if I can't find any solutions tomorrow I might just do what you did. I think I'm going cross-eyed from reading wiring diagrams

you obviously lack the knowledge to give advice on this subject.
