you don't remove your relays for anti-theft purposes

Do you think this CAI setup sounds louder than the traditional one that goes in the fender? Since the sound won't be so muffled through the fender? Any experiences/comparisons?

Thanks

Well, my Ebay CAI (In Fender) is pretty growly around 2800-4800RPM, then when it hits exactly 5000RPM the sound changes to a real loud raspy kinda scream, kinda hard to describe. I don't believe the sound is the VI switching over, but it may be. It could also be just a certain resonance in the Intake Manifold. I do know that the Injen CAI's on the 4th Gen's sound quite a bit deeper and louder. They don't have that scream though. I believe Matt93SE has a video of a 0-100MPH run in his car. You can't really here the deep sound, but you do hear the loud raspy sound I'm talking about. It's much louder in person, than in any videos I've seen.

We all know the sound your describing. How about anybody have that supercharger or vacuum like sound in first gear and only first gear from 900-3500RPM? Then changes to what Duckman is describing further up. That only happens in first gear though, and sounds sweeeet.

This pic shows what you need from this ebay guy for the pipes and how to cut one of the pipes for the under headlight part where the filter is attached...link for the pipe....http://stores.ebay.com/Turbo-Performance the pipe is on page 2 of the above link. The 3" pipe is what you need.

The mass air flow adapter was bought off ebay too..I dont have that link...The rubber connectors can be bought at autozone..$5 a piece, you need 2 of them...

The part of this cai setup that takes a little imagination was the relocation of the battery tray, and cutting the metal out from underneath the headlight so the pipe can fit through..I suggest you buy a smaller battery and slide it toward the engine to make space for the pipe to go past it...You need to have a dremal tool and lots of cut off wheels for the cutting of the metal under the headlight...I have to get back to work now,but will get some pics of the metal cutting for you later when i get home..

ever since i put my apex filter and removed the resonator i noticed a big improvement in the low-mid rpm range, not much but you can definitely tell the difference.
