That's gay.

Anyone else? I've read something like 300-350hp on from people that have used them on 240sx's, but I'd like to verify with you guys since it does come from your car. Does anyone have a definite answer?

Im pretty sure that all nissan MAFS max out at 5.1 volts, the maf itself will just keep on going up but the ECU will only read up to 5.1.

Actually, stock for stock the Maxima's are ever so slightly faster. That's a 90 VG against a 95 240SX. The 92-94 VE against one would toast it. Its all in the power to weight ratios. If memory serves, the Maxima's hp to weight ratio is slightly higher than the 240SX however the torque to weight ratio of the Maxima is way better than the 240 (the VE only gets better).

Granted its like comparing apples to oranges... but anyways.

better watch who's forum you insult.... You may be buddy buddy with mikepeed, ameen, and the other *****es on H240, but I own this place....

a 3gen Maxima MAF will support roughly 300hp. if you're looking at more power than that, your best bet is a Z32 or J30 maf.. after that its a Cobra MAF.

and FYI, all MAFs are designed on a 0-5V scale. anything more than that and the ECU doesn't know what to do with it. the difference between all of the units is simply the airflow it takes to get to that maximum 5V reading.

Thanks for the info.

I was not insulting this forum in the slightest, just the search function. I still don't think it's a good way to run a forum. All it will do is increase redundant threads(unless you guys don't mind saying the same thing over and over), reduce member loyalty, annoy people, and increase the number of useless members.

You have a point in that regard, but who keeps their car stock?

Does the fact that I'm maxing out my stock maf give you the impression that I make a little more power than stock? Does that still make me a ricer?

Actually a q45 maf will support less Hp than a z32 and J30 maf will. It is larger, but much more sensitive. If i remeber right its good to about 375, or somwhere around there.

I just bought a 240sx with and sr20det basically stock minus a cone filter. My VE maxima was almost as fast, and the 240 still can't compare to my emotional attachment to maximas.

Also, I noticed, my MAF for the maxima are significantly bigger than the sr20's.

You shouldn't worry about the MAF on a bolt on maxima. It will definately be fine. If you decide to go boost and increase the IM pressure, you should increase A/F abilities with a z32 MAF. It's just like with the 240s man, if you have no serious mods, then the stock will do. If you decide to add more boost with higher flowing injectors and some form of A/F management then of course a larger MAF will be beneficial.

Only someone who must be either broke, simply not a car enthusiast, or outright crazy

Going by above, the Q45 is supposed to handle less than the Z32 maf. The best upgrade would probably be the Z32 maf or maybe the Cobra maf (pretty sure that's the one used. I think it was mentioned above).

... which can be overcome by plugging a 0.5Wt rated resistor of about 1/4 of the Ohms of the MAF, sequentially with the MAF, I guess... This will shift the working range of the MAF to lower volts, thus extending it. Am I missing something?
