Howdy people. I bought me another ride a few hours ago. My girlfriend's dad is the business manager for a local Ford dealership. It is the 2nd largest in the state (and for South GA, that's quite an accomplishment).

Anyhoo, I got a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT. I had been looking for a nice SUV for a few months and this one was tight. It has a V8 and only 23 miles. My GF's dad hooked me up with a deal. I got it for $24,500. That was invoice on it. I paid $14,500 down on it and financed the rest. Spruce Green with Tan leather and a sunroof. Originally, I was going to buy an AE Maxima, but I figured I would keep my 3rd Gen and Mod it and use it as a daily driver. Since I have ordered most of the parts for the mods that I want, that would be the best idea.

Anyway, just checking to see what all of your opinions on this ride are? I will post pics of it as soon as I get them up. Tomorrow I have to get it insured. Wednesday, I will be ordering some 20s for it. Ah-yeah.

If you're happy, good. The V8 has some *****. Too bad the rest of the car stinks.

Re: no no no

BBS makes some nice rims for explorers, I was going to get my sister to buy a set I saw on ebay but was to pricey. Hope you like your explorer. I hopefully will get a 5.9 limited grand cherokee in the future and S/C it or another max just have to work my a$$ off this summer

(besides the fact you obviosly got a really good deal, heh) blah, not my opinion to spend 25 grand, but hey who am i to tell ya what to do. im likeing the rollin on 20's though, that should look really sweet. i love big rims on SUVS. ehh.. shoulda gottan a pathfinder, hehe.

sorry, but i just hate fords, crappy plastic peices or crap. although they made it look a hel of a lot better.

uh

I dunno man, I really don't like any Ford's anymore except the Expedition, though my family owns a Mercury which has not given us any real trouble and it's 14 years old.
About the 20's.... HELLS YES, and make them CHROME too.. SUVs must have big rims, at LEAST 20's, you can be extreme and go for some 23's if you have 6+ grand for them

The dealership that my GF's dad works for also owns a Chevy dealership about 90 miles away. I drove a Trailblazer from there and granted it will haul much *** with the quickness but it did not have the room that the Explorer did. I do not like the Pathfinders, I think that 4Runners and too narrow and I think that the Jeep Grand Cherokees are rough riding vehicles.

Besides, when you catch a break like this, you take it.

I'm not selling out. I will still pamper my Max.

As far as the 20's go, I was going to get the attached wheel. It is a KMC Venom.

Any ideas?

Congrats on the new purchase, ford all the way baby. My family has owned fords forever until my dad went out and got a new Yukon, only cuz its faster then the Expeditions. My g/f has a 98 explorer and loves it, she hasnt had any probs with it at all. The 02's, look tight as s***. They look like smaller verisons of the Expedition. Cromes will look real nice, either crome 20's or lift her about 4 inches. Welcome to the ford family.

You better still pamper you 3rd gen Max because you'll need it when the Ford craps out at 90,000 miles. My Dad owns Ford's and they are ok but I am a max girl all the way!

those wheels are really cool looking. i still would not get them in 20 tho. there is this guy that goes to the same gym as me and has a really nice dodge ram. he has these 20 inch or maybe bigger rims on it and it looks so rediculous. the wheels looks so big and there is no tire. looks really stupid even tho the wheels he has are really nice looking.

A friend who works at a local wheel shop (Wheels Unlimited) hooked me up with a set of rims and tires for the Explorer. I ordered the KMC Venom today with tires. 18 inch looked fine. The 20s were too damn big. I got the set w/ tires for $1600. $100 for each tire and $300 for each rim. Since he ordered them for me from their store in Jax, FL (that is where the payment went), I didn't have to pay sales tax. Since they cam on an order with other tires and rims, I didn't have to pay S&H? Plus, he already discounted each rim $125.

I think I did fairly good.

DOWN WITH FORD EXPLORERS

Nothing personal against you.. it's just that I had an "incident" with a Ford Explorer last year with my SkyBlue max. Some of you know what I'm talking about..

Great, another SUV on the road. At least don't talk on the cell while you drive, OK?

A Ford Explorer side swiped me on the highway which sent my SkyBlue max spinning into a guardrail. My max was totaled and the guy in the Explorer was no where to be found. =(
