I really don't think they would bother. It's not in their best interest. And unless you pay them close to a few million dollars, they wouldn't bother. And thats at least. If you want a 3rd gen as new as possible, you would need to buy a used one with low mileage, and build it from the ground up by replacing everything with new parts available for our cars. Thats it. No other choice. And don't think automatically because Nissan does it, it's the best. If you chose to do it yourself and had the knowledge and skills, you could definatly do a much better job then a few Nissan workers, since you'd be paying attention to detail, and no doubt they wouldn't since it isn't their car. Just my two cents.

ive always said that it would be good for car companys to do that. If shoe companies make throw back shoes, and companies make throw back jersies, and old school music sells, then if they made "throw back cars" with whatever spin who WOULDNT want to buy one. Now of course that is relative to what car they "throw back." Not everyone sees Maxima's as classics. But could you imagine for instance if they made a years worth of '64 impalas? Or my favorite muscle the REAL dodge charger! Sales for days i tell you...

Current Fed emssions/crash/airbag safety would prevent this. Private companies would have to do this. In fact, you can build/hire someone to build some of the old muscle cars from stratch anyway.

If you could find a used car with good body and interior it wouldn't be that hard to change struts, bearings, springs and wear parts. Can you buy a NEW engine and transmission for these cars and if so, how much?

I don't think so. I think "rebuilt" is as new as it gets.
