Oxygen Sensor

Will it cause your car to not crank? It will turn-over fine but not crank?

I doubt it, but if you want to know for sure then just unplug the o2 harness...The ecu should take over for it in safe mode...I think

The car will run whether the O2 is good or not.

I've never seen a faulty O2 keep a car from running in 15 years of doing this. As important as they are, they are used for reference after the ECU goes into closed loop. If you cold start, it will be in open loop and not look at the O2 for reference until conditions are met for closed loop. If the O2 fails, the ECU will run in safe mode. I have never seen an O2 short something out to the point of disabling a car but anything is possible. If the O2 is old it should be replaced anyway.

Where is the ECU fuse located?? That could very well be the problem. The cat got red hot and the car would not go over 35mph. I figured the 02 was right there and is probably shot. Someis causing the car not to start but it turns over fine.

if your cat is getting red hot, it NEEDS to be replaced.
you cat is plugged.
which also means you have a more serious condition that needs attention.
