Motor Mounts

Looking to replace all motor mounts.....where can I find some good repair info.
Has anyone done this job before and if so, is it hard? What tools will I need?

Thanks,

Mark

well definately you ened to lift the engine up off og the car... so oyu will need an engine lift of some sort.....then just pull out the bolts and put new ones on........ you will probably have to take the exhaust off.... but im not 100% sure on that....but just to be safe... do it.. if it has never ben changed before.... expect the y-pipe studs to break... just soak them in alot of PB blaster

here it is more simple..
1. get engine hoist
2. remove y-pipe (bolts may break)
3. lift motor a little to get pressure off bolts
4. pull out bolts for mount (4 of them) 17 MM nut
5. remove old mounts
6. out new mounts on
7. lower into place
8. 7. bolts back in
9. tighten bolts
10. replace y-pipe (you should replace studs just in case.. so they dont break later down the road)

I just used a jack, jackstands and a 2x4 on the oil pan to support the engine when I removed the crossmember.

My car seems to jerk when I let off the gas abrutly wether the rpm's are high or not. could this be the motor mounts? how many mounts are there. where are they at? I'm guessing one is right above the exhaust on the firewall side of the engine (I saw that one yesterday while changing the thermostat. How much should I expect to pay for some. How hard of a job is it to do by yourself

Their are four mounts, two are motor mounts, and expect to pay 40 shipped if you find someone nice. I have already hit up most of the junkyards in town, so good luck with that. I can help you if you wish.

My poly ones just crapped out. I thought it was solid poly, but wasn't.

Is there any place to get a big chunk of poly? Isn't of mixing and pourling.....

Yeah I had poly, and I noticed all four were shot when I pulled my engine. I'm sure that there are inserts that will fit our car, the trick is finding them...

I'm trying to get a few qoutes for 3" poly rods. That would make it real easy. Just a little trim and drill a whole, press em, and know it couldn't be done any better.
