with putting in a 5 speed...... you only need to conenct 2-4 wires and you are set.....and they have writeups about that and they tell you which wires to do....

if you are looking for a parts car or a car to fix up. i have a 92 SE VE 5 speed with 130k on it. it has a banged up fender from when the wheel fell off. 2 wheels studs are broken and it probably needs a new disc since it fell on it. i havent had time to fix the damned thing. interior is very clean. engine and tranny seemed good to me. it always idled perfect. its been sittin in my driveway the past couple of months. i started it up a couple of weeks ago just to see if it would start. started up perfect and i let it run for about a 1/2 an hour just to make sure it was running ok. im on the south side of chicago man. let me konw

shoot me a PM with how much you want and some pics if possible.
I'm fairly short on cash right now (Just bought the camry)
but if the deal is right my brother will probably want it.

yeah, don't remind me.
I spent more than I normally do on a beater.
it cost me $500!

It's a 4 banger though :-\ and surprisingly there are turbo and SC kits for it.

my dad has a 93 (maybe 92...or even newer...cant remember) camry that has a blown motor of all things. So much for being the most reliable car. It was a 4cyl and this particular motor is very hard to find (only had it in there for a couple of years) at a reasonable price. He is probably just going to haul it to the junk yard but I still want to find a motor to replace it...its been sitting in his yard for 3 years or more.

this one has the 5sfe which was used in celica and MR2 besides the camry
I'm guessing you had an 89-91 which is a 3sfe.
I'm not up on toyota motor codes, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could swap between a 5sfe and a 3sfe.
it's worth a google

and for the record my 94 is a 3rd gen

camry that is

nope ...I just went and looked at the hood and its a 92 model with the 5s-fe. Still cant believe it threw a rod...I never looked into it but my dad said he couldnt find a replacement locally that was reasonable. The cheapest he found was 1K and there was no way he was going to pay that for that car.

it was used all the way up to 01 in the camry

thats pretty weird...you would think the junk yards would have a cross reference for motors...they told my dad it was only offered in a couple of years in the Camry and that was all it was used in. I knew that didnt sound right but I never got involved or did any research.

I looked on car-part and the cheapest running motor I see is around $500 from a celica (158K). I dont even think he would spend 100 on it now though.
