Installing under dash lights?

I want to install neon green lights to light up the floor in the front seats. Does any one have any tips on how to install them, and also a good place to buy them?

im gunna guess your 16 and just a warning if you do this theres a good chance youll regret it in 2 or 3 years but if you must the ones ive put in at work ive just zip tided to whatever to hold them under the dash and then typically hardwire to +12 either at the cig lighter or the ignition harness and then mount a master switch somwhere. the only respectable way to do it is hardwireing because ive seen a few kids that just use the cigaret lighter and split it off like 6times this looks HORRIBLE and i will make fun of you uncontrollably as well as everyone else that sees it. you can buy them pretty much anywhere

when i was young and foolish (3 years ago ) i put blue neons under my dash and under the front seats.everyone i showed then to always thought they were 'awesome', and they are actualy usefull when you drop something in on the floor at night. so heres the run down i had 2 15" tubes under the front dash and 2 10"sub circular lights under the front seats(all were purchased at walmart so you can see that this was not a really serious job but they all worked fine) and i just hung them using zip ties so that they could be easily removed. i then tapped into the 12v from the airbag fuse (i dont have an airbag) and ran it to a box under my seat which i ran all the lights into, for a ground i just used where the seats bolt into the floor and then put a switch to break the circuit, and thats it. i'm sure there is a better way to do it but this way was quick, dirty and it worked. and for the record these are no longer on my car.

What are the cons to doing this? How will I regret it?

The novelty will wear out after a while, but hey, if you did it in a semi-permanent way, there's always the removal. The regret part comes when you realized that you spent too much money on something that you don't need, instead on something that your car actually does need, like a good oil change, or a full tank of gas, or full engine bay filters replacements just to name a few...

just find a 12 year old kid who thinks you are cool and have him ride with you all the time, holding several flashlights with lenses of different colors to shine when and where you want/like... hey, you can even make it like a light show at a used car dealership at night by having him stand in the sun roof and waving them in a circular motion while aimed up... :-)

Ok so I am 16 and I have 16 inch neon green tubes above the footwell area

They look great and are bright ! I tap into the power from the cig lighter and then ran it to a green lighted switch.

It looks great !!

But I do have the 16 year old mentality being that I am 16!!

Another Note : If you have an amp and play bass music you could wire the lights into the amp wire to make the lights dim when the bass hits It would ook pretty cool !!

Yeah I decided not to do it. Novelty would probably wear out really quick.

I put red LEDS under my dash and rear seats and in my headliner sides. I bought my first car and put them in there and ever since I have a fear of not being able to see my feet... like something will actually roll under the pedals. HAHA. I have them set up to my dimmer to my interior lights too so they dim with my interior lights and turn on when i turn on my lights to my car. I have a master switch for the foot rest ones that I always leave on. But the LEDS on the headliner I put a master switch in the center counsal. As for being 19. I guess its cause I had a Subaru Legacy GT and after I dropped money into it preformance wise I totaled it with temp plates on. So now I am more into style.

i have a friend who bought the strobes and kinda put them in his headlights , hes got a big blue and white one on his dash , strobe in the rear .. he looks like a police officer when he turns them on , it was funny when he told me EVERYTHING was confiscated when he got pulled over. thats my story for the day.

aside that one of my friends has a 12 inch across his dash , pulses to the music, it lights up most his car
