Hello everyone,

My tranny starting to get noisy and I'm looking for a good used 5-spd. Anyone got any leads.

is your current tranny an auto or 5 speed? if it's a 5 speed, it's probably your input shaft bearing and with just a little more work and/or skill, you can crack it open and fix it for $20.

I worked as an auto mechanic for 7 years although it was mostly Saabs and Volvos so I got the skill. Do I have to remove the tranny to replace that bearing? Im also worried that all the metal from the bad bearing could be tearing everything else up in there.

What size tires are you running on yours? Is your car lowered at all?

yes you have to remove the trans and take it half apart to replace the bearing but its pretty easy if you have an FSM

theres a magnet in these trans that collects most of the debri

but folks have posted scans of various pages in numerous other threads...oh well..was just expecting some consistency...i suppose that's the beauty of being the owner - u get to make the rules and decide who gets to play...

i was actually just being facetious in my first post on this matter
