Pace Setter Exhaust for VE/VG?
Pace Setter Exhaust for VE/VG?
Some of you might remember, not too long ago i bought a complete exhaust system for my -VE- and i was talking about it on here, and someone told me that it wouldnt fit on my VE because they didnt make them for that engine, and that they only made them for the VG engine.....
any thoughts? i want to try and put it on but i dont want to go through all the work and have to put the old stuff back on.
What exactly is the problem with putting it on the VE? headers? y-pipe? What has the wrong bends and what has the right bends?

Uhhh, I'm pretty sure exhaust ports have different shapes between the VG and VE, which may make the header fitment a little off.

Yeah,i forgot that part...

The vg port is round and the ve is oval...
but the some guys here said the pace setter headers weren't any good anyway.. so i don't know why you would want them. From the pictures I saw on e-bay the exaust runners aren't equal length... so i don't they're any good
they dont look the same length, and theyre not, because theyre designed to send flow at the perfect time to allow the exhaust gases to enter the reducer at seperate times, to allow all the gases to flow freely, without figting for access to the downpipe.
That would be necessary if all exhaust ports opened at the same time.. but they don't, they open in sequence, so equal length pipes are necessary to ensure you don't have any collisions of pressure waves at the reducer, causing weird backpressure problems.
I am not sure what you mean by "exhaust"...do you mean headers, y-pipe, catback, or some combination?
As far as VG vs. VE goes the STOCK Y-pipe is the same. The Cattman Y-pipe is the same. Warpspeed however has improved the design by making 2 different ones.

i read in the warpspeed web site something that says "products from their competitors were having fitment issues, because there IS a difference (btwn VG and VE)"
so even if cattman makes a single Y for both, I wouldn't trust it to bolt on with minimal effort.

everything up to the y pipe should be the same (from muffler up to cat converter)
engine is a different size; headers fit at different lengths/angles.
my monza (the catback made by pacesetter) sounds awesome, but didnt do **** for me performancewise.
i dont know if it was the y-pipe or the headers (they came together-made by pacesetter), but i got a hell of a torque gain from them...i have heard a lot of complaints about them other than my experience, though.
better off just getting the warpspeed y-pipe made for the VE because feedback is consistent with them; im having all sorts of cooling issues because my WHOLE exhaust system is 3"; it should bolt up to the stock headers...but
from there...the issue is whether the bolts at the flanges are seized up...especially on the rear header. i cut the yipe from the headers with a little dremel because mine were.
messing with the headers became a real headache...i REALLY dont recommend it.
$1,000 later, my car sounds good and looks custom, but i still cant beat a grand prix gt...hahaha.
i went to see "hostel" tonight and afterwards, i saw a 92-94 se maxi in the parking lot in as good shape as my gxe...i was half-tempted to leave a post-it on their windshield asking them how much theyd sell it to me for!

Overall, what i'm getting at, is that im trying to basically rebuild this car from the ground up, slowly, and i want all the best parts i can get. they need to make more stuff for our 3rd gens! enough people want the products, we just have to get group deals going with these companies! I have many contacts out there, and a number of sponsors (revpm. aka. bodykits.com.......fidanza....r-blox sound control....kyowa racing.....and a few others) and theres many products for other cars, but hardly for our max.
