Power Steering Noise?

When I turn the steering wheel either way, there is a groaning noise, like when you turn the wheel as far as it can go. Is my power steering fluid maybe low? What else could be the problem?

Also, where is the reservoir for the power steering fluid? I have a 92 SE. I'm thinking it's on the left side of the engine bay in a black unmarked plastic cylinder type thing, is this right?

Thanks for your help.

yup it is on the passenger side... fluid is either low or you have air in the line or the pump is going bad

Fluid is low. If it leaks out after you fill it you will probably have to replace the hose to the reservoir.

Is there a way to get the air out of the line? I replaced my hose last month and now it makes this noise too, didn't before just leaked so I had to change it.

Thanks

Is it also true, that nissan put tranmission fluid in the p/s pump?
I've had the noise since I changed the high pressure hose. I did'nt
jack up the car and go from bumper to bumper like stated above.
I too, will try this afternoon to see if this"burps" the system.

o.k....I jacked the car up, then went bumper
to bumper by turnring wheel both ways till
it stopped. Then I let it off the jack and did
this again with the car running. seems to
have a slight noise still. I wonder if thats
because I put p/s fluid in and not the auto
trans fluid nissan put in it from factory?
Well enough with that.On to installing the CAI
I got from brian.

i have a noise only when i start the car, since i park on the street infront of my house i need to turn the wheel to pull out, it makes a nice loud squeeking noise, only happens when i first start the car, car can be warm or cold. from what i hear it could be my power steering belt comming loose? anyone else have any ideas?

It would probably be a good idea too get the regular p/s fluid out of the system....It is not the right fluid,so it may cause pump damage in the future.

You should have left the car on the jack when it was running too..
