AC not working. Blows warm air.

Due to the fact that the AC blew warm air, I tried to recharge it myself. However once I did this, the freon would escape out of a pipe near the radiator. Is this a common problem with 3rd gen ACs? What do you guys think needs to be done?

my 92s both had their original charges.

if it's leaking then your car was in an accident at some point.

and why are you using the A/C in january???

MY AC ONLY WORKS WHEN I TURN IT ON VIA THE "DEFROST" BUTTON.

i didnt even think that it worked! drove half summer assuming it didnt work because it hadnt on the other settings...then...one summer day...i needed to defrost my windshield...and the rest is history!

Well this thread is back from the dead.

So I'm assuming it's the AC line. Does anyone know where I can find these? My local auto zone doesnt carry it and don't want to spend a lot at the stealership. Should I buy used?

I just took my 89 Max to the AC man. It was broken from last summer so I didnt take care of it till now.
Probably a bad move on my part.
He said that the high pressure valve was broken thats the one near the lh side of the radiator.
Fixed that then found a leak from the compressor behind the clutch he said maybe was from not fixing it right away and the seal dried up.
Well I told him to fix it and he also replaced the dryer since you always replace that when you replace the compressor.
It ended up costing 820.00
Well my wallet is lighter now but I have cool AC again and the wife is happy!!

recharged mine w/$45 kit from any parts store to convert from R22 to R134. comes w/gauge & all. Not difficult and cools like mad. If leak isn't real bad, they also sell leak detector/sealant. Would also recommend new seals for $4.
