I know this will sound like a lame question, but how do I check if my 94 Maxima GXE has ABS installed. Is there a quick and simple way to check.

yes...a couple of ways.

first look at your rear brakes. If you have disk brakes (and are sure its a GXE) then you have abs.

also look under the hood and if you overflow tank is in front of the battery and there is a big block with a bunch of lines going to it on the left side fender then you have abs.

EDIT...yeah the light bhunter mentioned would be the easiest but if someone replaced the instrument cluster you can try the other visuals.

here is a pic to make what I said earlier a little more clear...the circled things are the clues its abs equipped. (thats CraigB's car btw)

 

^^^ Also, if there is a light on the dash that says "abs". And if you look on the backside of the front wheel hubs where the axle goes in there is a gear-looking thing.

 

I just look for the spider in front right corner.
that is the ABS unit itself.
the others (except the light) can be there even without ABS (a rebuilt car with incorrect parts used for example)
