9004 9007?

My maxima has 9004 bulbs now. I heard 9007 are considered brighter. What would I do to go about changing over? I already have upraded wiring hardness for 9004 and says it fits 9007s.

well you will have to reaim your headlights so you dont blind everyone. and you will have to switch some wires, because of the positions of the ground and low beams being different on 9004 and 9007 bulbs. its pretty easy, especially if you already upgraded your harnesses. but reaim please.

Just search google (or this site) and there's lots of info online. It basically just requires swapping two wires on each side. Pretty easy.

I think the write up I found on which wire to swap was in the 4th gen stickies. Check there.

well it only takes a couple of minutes and just the price of new bulbs so yeah I would say its worth it.

I had USDM non projector E36s and yes the lighting of the 9007 swap was much better imo...the beam of the E36s were too narrow for my taste...maybe I just didnt have them adjusted right.

The E36 swap using the projectors are the best lighting though and would be better than the 9007s but it costs a lot more to do.

by "upgrading the harness" i assume u r refering to the gauge of wire. is this so? how far back from the bulb connector should the upgrade be performed

well the best thing to do is to leave the stock harness alone and make a upgraded harness using relays. if you just connect to the factory harness you still have the weak wire that can burn up but if you use a relay you have a thich wire all the way from the relay.

Check Craigs site...i think he has a write up buy someone that did the relay harness upgrade. Or you can buy one already made for fairly cheap. I think I paid like $20 shipped for my upgraded harness a couple of years ago (included relays).

Ok after wiring harness upgrade. I stepped up from 65/45 9004 artic purple bulbs. to 170/160 9007 JDM yellows. And lets just say HOLY CRAP! Well worth it. total cost of 12$ harness + 25$ bulbs both off ebay.
