Hey, what's happening? Just the other day I replaced my door lights & wanted to replace my ash tray light as well. The only problem Is I don't know how to get to it? Does anyone know how I can get to it & is it difficult to get to?........cause it sure looks like it
It is part of the lighter assembly
- You need to first remove the ashtray.
- Remove the screws from behind it.
- Gently pry away the facia from the top. As you do, you will find you have to disconnect the plugs behind it. One to the lighter, one to the hazzard light button, and one (if you have it) to the Comfort/Power suspension switch by the change tray.
- Within the lighter assembly is the small light/diode you are looking to replace. I don't know the bulb number, but you can take it to a radio shack and replace it rather easily.
Be careful trying to get the facia out. The lighter assembly itself can make it difficult to remove, and it (the lighter plug) will break if not done patiently. I haven't removed it for a while, but the difference between pulling from the top or the bottom of the facia can make all the difference. I believe you need to remove the top half first and pry the bottom half second - and reverse when putting back.
You do not need to remove the screws for the radio/storage tray.
Hope it helps.
