Please take a look at this 90 for cheap and offer your opinions or carfax

I don't know enough about these cars to know what to look for. This is the auction link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4609379808

and the auction id number on ebay is 4609379808
You will have to sign in to view this auction i think since it's already completed. These are the images for those of you that don't have an ebay account.

The car did not sell to the winning bidder and he offered to sell it to me for cheap because he has to get out of town now and needs the cash. I went and checked out the car.

he said that he's had the car for about 3 years. the body has 255,000 miles on it and was originally blue. The interior metal trim and engine bay has not been painted.

he was told when he got the car that the engine had about 10000 miles on it and it was out of a 95 maxima. When i looked at the car, i notice that the engine that was in it LOOKED LIKE the one in this picture (minus the mods)

NOT ACTUAL ENGINE

I'm almost postivie this is not a 95 engine but wanted to make sure.
the engine seems to run great. No knocking or ticking or any type of hesitation with two passengers. The oil looks clean. The engine doesn't seem like it has 255000 miles on it.

It is fairly dirty though, (don't have a picture of the actual engine) it seems like it could have anywhere from 50k to 150k. I don't really know. Is there ANY way to tell this? I'm almost positive there is not unless i can get in touch with the previous owner. The engine does have the yellow alpha-numeric lettering written on it and the tranny, which makes me think it came from a parts yard.

The transmission runs strong, and shifts flawlessly.
it's got 4 wheel disc brakes.
it's got a nice cd player i could sell out of it or leave.
The sunroof works.
The brake are fantastic.
it has aftermarket rims with no center caps.

The vols helmets come off.

The passenger window is off track.
The driver rear window is stuck up.
The pull/push lock on the inside of the drivers door is missing.
The window controls on the drivers side are sunken down in.
it needs new tires.
The suspension is pretty much dead.

would this car be worth it to buy for myself and fix up or would anyone on the forum be interested in buying the car from me? How much would you be willing slash should i be willing to pay for this car?

Could anyone that has free carfax run a report on it and tell me what shows up, the last mileages, previous owners so i can contact them? Please p.m. me with the results.

vin: JN1HJ01P0KT229794

Hmm... i just noticed the carfax sample says it's an 89...

Thank you!

depending on how much cheaper it doesn't seem like too bad of a deal, especially if the engine runs good and the tranny doesn't slip.

The engine is possibly out of a 94, since the 95 engine is totally different and doesn't fit directly. The same engine was used from 1989 until 1994.

Most of the "problems" you mentioned are fairly easy to fix and not super expensive, except the struts (dead suspension) and tires. Those depend on how much you want to spend, but minimum is probably around $600 or so.

Is it red or orange? I am guessing that Vols = orange, which is pretty ghey, IMO. I guess you could repaint it or just drive an orange car

Buying any used car is a gamble, it just depends on if you want to take a chance or not. It could go for 100k miles with no problems, or the timing belt could break tomorrow and cost you bunch of money for a rebuild or new engine.

One thing to note is that the auto trannies on these tend to conk out with higher mileage 3rd gens and they are quite expensive to fix (over $1k). If that is the original tranny with 255k miles, I wouldn't expect it to last too long. If it was replaced along with the engine (or rebuilt in the recent past), it might have a lot of miles left on it.

i forgot; the back seat isn't clipped on all the way because his key doesn't match the trunk so the only way to get into the trunk is through the fold down hole in the back seat. There is another random speaker in the trunk. as well as some chains, lol.

Well, he wants 800 dollars for it, that was the starting bid on ebay so i assume that's how much he has in it. But i'm still wary about the engine. it seems good, but i can't be sure.

Can anyone carfax this for me?

I'd bet the motor is out of a quest if it's actually a 95 motor.
it's a $500 tops IMO
I'd probably offer $200 because it sounds like it needs $1k+ worth of work

I second the burning option.

No seriously, it seems nice... I bought my 92 for $1100... just to give you a compairison. I have 235,000 (224,000 when i got it 6 months ago)... So I wouldn't pay more than $400-500 for that orange.... thing.
