brake torqueing...

Da Max... im not talking about neutral dropping...
i know that that can kill your tranny...
Desi... brake torqueing is when you just step on your regular brakes and you rev til about 1.5 - 2k and when the green comes you slam on the gas and let go of the brakes...
was still wondering about the side effects of what i just described above

I know what brake tourquing is....
and by brkae torquing you are turning the engine and thus turning the TC, but by holding the brake preventing the wheels from moving....you are creating IMMENSE heat and stress on the TC and the clutches, bands and servos in the trans, which eventually leads to failure.......our TC stall speed is 1800rpm so torque braking above that IS VERY BAD!!!!! if you must torque brake do it around 1000-1500(which is still bad) or consider getting a high stall TC which will reset the stall speed higher. but either way you look at it brake tourquing IS NOT GOOD!! don't listen to your friends if they are telling you this will not hurt the car, I've personally know first hand what it does.....(ie- my trans rebuild #2)
notice the words and phrases I bolded, if you value your trans DON'T DO THIS!!

And another thing.....
heres my suggestion on a good way to launch, try a "Flash Stall"....basically with your left foot press the brake down (not all the way)to the point where the car will not move. then place your right foot on(but don't press) the gas pedal and on the green just lift left foot off the brake and floor it with your right foot....
IMO, brake torquing yeilds too much wheelspin and is highly dangerous to the trans and to me "flash stalling" proved much more effective (for my track launches) and is much safer for the trans!!

Yea ive been through many a tranny for that reason as well, id say if you do it, keep it below 2000 and be sure that your holding it for no longer then 2 seconds, i also suggest a tranny cooler if your going to drive your car hard.
