Car is doing some things.

This has been spoken of time and again I'm sure, but I get average 24 mpg when I am driving like I am 1 point away from losing my license, and roughly 16-17 mpg when i drive without care 4 the law. That just doesn't seem to be right, however I am not sure. My question is other than a 2uneup, what options should I look into to increase mileage. I have an 89' se a/t. Also when I am in the 45-60 mph range and I let go of the gas, the car jerks forward, when i reapply throttle the car jerks back. I am thinking a motor mount, because I just put 3 trannies in it and the a/t mounts were good. Any help would be appreciated. 4DSC

24 mpg doesn't sound too bad for a 17 year old automatic, if you drive like a retard your mpg will always be low no matter what kinda car you have( I have found myself getting around 14mpg when I drive like I don't care). I would say try running some seafoam through it and see if it makes difference. Does the tranny jerking feel the same as when you drop it out of overdrive at 70mph?

fuel filter, injector cleaner, clean TB/intake man., FULL tune-up, set timing, different oil. <- only suggestions, but your mileage seems spot on, almost identical to my '89 VG 5spd.

That's just what i'm getting. there was a thread a while back that was a gas mileage poll. maybe check that, just remember not everyone has the same motor (vg / ve).
and you should still try to keep up the maint. stuff.

Oh yeah indeed, I am desperate need of a 2uneup, and I do remember that poll u're speaking of. I couldn't believe that some people were reporting 30+ mpg.
