While car is on, disconnect Negative cable (not jumper cable but actual batter cable)and if car turns off your alternator is bad..on the other hand you can go to your local parts store and have them test your battery...well iono if they do it free over there but you can give it a shot. How old and how many CCA is your batter rating?
not sure how many cca.....i know its a 2002 battery though.....the car was just standing in my driveway for a couple of months (in reall cold)....so that makes me thing that it mite be a battery problem.....
but yeah I am prolly going to take it to the store and get them to test the battery....

You definately need an alternator (or at least to clean its connections) and more than likely you'll need a battery too.
First go clean ALL your battery connections and alternator connections, see if that remedies the dying when jumper cables are removed part.
if not, then swap in another battery, you're about due anyways.
it's very likely that your (likely) bad alternator killed the battery, you can however try to do a SLOW charge on the battery for a day and see if that helps it.
