Weird Door lock and window thing

Ok, This is weird, but consistent..

I have a 1991 Max SE and I swapped the driver door window and lock assembly with a 1990 Max GXE. They looked the same except the original has a white plastic bottom piece where the harness snap in and the one put in is black. Anyway, the old one was intermitant on the window up and downs on the back windows.

It use to when the driver door unlocks all doors would unlock. Now that functionality is gone. The driver door will unlock and then I need to push teh little lock and unlock button to get all the doors to lock or unlock.

Thanks

terryg

Could it be the lock timer needs to be resoldered?

nothing's broken...that's the way they are. there was some product change between the older and newer 3rd gens that i've been trying to pinpoint myself. there's no info on the differences here on this board.

i did the opposite of you. i have a 90 and i swapped in a master switch from a 91+ ( i think it was a 92). suddenly the locks didn't work but the auto up/down windows did...

so i just swapped in the original switch and endure through holding the window switch for several seconds....oh the humanity!!!!

So, the 1991 when teh driver door locks or unlocks all the other locks did the same correct? Maybe I should put the old one on and see what happens. Actually I should resoldier all the old connections and then put it back in.

Thanks

personally i wouldn't bother soldering but if u know what u're doing and have the time - then i suppose there's no harm.

everyone told me the same thing about the repairing the lock timer but after swapping in the old (original) master switch and getting back all the lock functions - it was obvious that the timer wasn't the problem

Our 93 SE has this same intermittent problem with door locks. Mostly the master switch won't lock or unlock the others. Is there info on this. Sounds like it is a common problem. fitz

Never had a problem like this. The problem with my doors is the door lock actuators (front passenger side and rear driver side) and I cant find any place online to find this part, anyone have this same problem? Thanks in advance.

I hate to add to the list of questions, but I'm going to anyway. I've been experiencing problems with my locks for about one year now (93 GXE). It's not consistent which is I guess more of a hassel than either working or not working at all. The problem is, at times, the master lock/unlock will not function (though you can hear a clicking coming from the circuit board and from behind the gauge cluster) the driver and passenger side doors will also not perform their function of locking all the doors when depressed. Though this is happening the alarm is still working, so if it's acting up and I manuely lock all the doors the alarm will activate and I'm forced to use the keypad and then manuely unlock the doors when I wish to get back in. If anyone has any suggestions to what might resolve this issue please PM me. Thanks in advance!
