i just got back from the new england raceway where they had races and shows. well there was a max and the guy fab. his own turbo. he went to races and blew something. but anyway he had springs that brought his ride 2.25 maybe more but he said they were some brand (i do not remember) but i thought the lowest spring was like 1.75? did this guy just cut his spring you think? i would like my car to go lower. someother kid had the same drop but he bought it from some one who put it in. he knew nothing becasue he bought off some one.
thanks

well my '91 maxima sits 2.5" lower. the first time i did it i cut the coils, but the ride sucked. after that i used an apex spring that put it down about 2.2" now i have an air ride kit. with that i can (at any time) lower my car up to 4". i keep it a 2.5" because that seems to be the best ride. the cool thing about the air ride kit is that i can "lift" my car for speed bumps.

maybe this guy put custom springs on his car but i dont think he did because this was the only thing he had done to it. besides rims. i think he cut the factory springs, but the other guy who was racing his maxima with the custom turbo might have had his springs custom. who knows. oh well. the show was good but it was mostly hundas and acuras and toyotas. that part sucked only two maximas come on guys lets get out there and show them up.

The dead coil is the part of the spring on the bottom. If you find the spot on the spring where it overlaps on the bottom this is it. Depending on what springs you have you cut about 4" of the bottom of the spring off. To be safe cut a little at a time so you dont screw it up. The springs are useless if you cut too much off. I could have cut mine more but I wanted to be safe.

Yeah, after I cut the coils the ride didn't change. The car sits a lot lower and actually handles a little better. I wouldn't try to cut your springs unless they are aftermarket. Cutting the stock springs is completely different. If you did that it would ride like s***. After everything I've done my car seems fine. No rubbing no nothing. The only thing is I need to get it alligned. My front tires are starting to wear really weird. So as soon as you do the drop then get it alligned as soon as possible. If your tires are like mine then they are not something cheap to just change every week. Anymore q's just let me know.

I'm working on it. I went home from school this week and I found out that I had a leak in my tranny. I was losing a quart of tranny fluid like every 5 miles. When I got my shift kit put in the damn guys forgot to put a seal in or something. So now its back at the tranny shop. It sucks because I came home to refill my NOS and whip some ***. Now I have a full bottle and not my car to put it in. I go back home in 2 weeks and I'll borrow my friends camera and get some pics.
