oil question
oil question
i think im getting lifter ticking , i tried grounding the vTC's and whatnot , and all that happend was the click stoped at idle but soon as the car moves i can hear it again , so i was thinking , is it SAFE to put 20-50 oil in the max? would thicker oil be a good idea, maybe my camshaft isn't moving oil to the top of the engine and my top cylenders are going bad? input plz :/
Do you use a Nissan oil filter or do you use a off brand??? Because if you do that may be the problem. The Nissan oil filter's pressure that it applies is just right so it will push the oil to the top of the pistons. If you use off brand oil filters time after time then the oil will not be the same on the pistons as it would be if you used the nissan oil filter. Just make sure that you use the factory filter.

Personnaly I run Esso XD3 0w40 synthetic.
Also the nissan filter has nothing to do with pressure it has to do with a drainback valve so that the oil stays "primed" to the top end instead of bleeding back down and getting a "dry" start up.
If your filter regulated your pressure that woudl be a pretty poor system since as the filter got dirty you oudl lmit your oil pressure.

they are stock replacements. they aren't boxed for nissan, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's the same manufacturer.
