almost sold the black one..

had a nice guy ready to buy for $2000, we took the car to some backyard mechanic who thought it would be fun to smash it around the (residential) block like it was stolen while i sat in the passenger seat hoping he wouldn't get t-boned as he approached the intersection at around 60mph. motor mount is worn so you can feel the engine and tranny jolt when you push it hard or slam it into first like he did. his diagnosis of the jolt was that the transmission is on it's way out and then talked the guy out of buying it. i know a mechanic is supposed to inspect the car, but don't get in my car and abuse it without even asking if you can push it hard. then wrongfully diagnose a problem as if you can see into the future. tranny was rebuilt 20k miles ago, doesn't slip at all. thanks mr "mechanic".

Thats just wrong, imagine what they may have done if you weren't in the car. Also what are the white things on your center caps in your sig?

I would have done something about it, it is YOUR property no one elses. Did you correct him on the problem, and show the possible buyer the faulty mount?

Though its a good thing you didnt sell it j/p GL with the next buyer.

Should of drove the shade tree mechanic out of town and then made him walk a couple of miles. And the buyer too for listening to him.

bah, some other sucker...errr...buyer will come along.

you just need to have some patience. I don't think the price is unreasonable.

Next time tell the mechanic to drive normally/slow the fawk down or look at some one elses car if he wants to drive like that. It will probably even help your sale

My Dad had me go with the guys who were buying his 5th gen and obviously I went with the guy who bought my 3rd gen.

Neither of them took the cars above 5000rpm and both asked before they really played at all. Yes they are sporty/fun cars so people will want to have some fun and just letting them have a small taste of what the cars can do will be an extra selling point, but it's hard enough letting a stranger drive your car, no chance in hell they are just going to sit there and rag on it (infact most serious buyers will not rag on the cars).

I didn't say anything because i didn't want to **** the guy off and have him end up talking the guy out of buying it. A lot of good that did He did give me a business card though so maybe i'll give him a call and tell him what I think now that it's all said and done. After I handed him the keys, he made a joke about driving it "like a rental". I didn't think he actually would do it I have more people interested, i should probably replace the motor mount though, but i figured i might as well try to sell it as is. I did tell the guy about the problems with the car. Funny thing is the so called mechanic never noticed that the engine wasn't as secure as it should be when it's very obvious as soon as you give it a little gas and you can feel it jolt. good to see i have some support here and not just over-reacting. I test drove this ve-5 speed a couple weeks ago and the owner was in the passenger seat. I didn't even think twice about asking if he minded if I pushed it a little bit. Funny thing is, the clutch was gone so i didn't even have the chance.

Yeah I feel your pain. It shouldn't matter to you that much since you wanna get rid of it anyway, but I hear where your coming from. I like how mechanics like to make assumptions on things and mess with the sale as if they see into the future.
