Rear brake and caliper q's

The setup:
When I go in reverse, I get a horrible squealing sound from my driver rear brake. It makes a little rubbing sound going forward, but you really have to listen for it. So I figure I'll take it apart and see what's up... I couldn't even get it off. I swear there were no bolts holding the caliper to the car and I couldn't get it off the rotor with a hammer. I know bashing it with a hammer isn't exactly the FSM-preferred method of removal, but at this point I've already chalked up the caliper as bad.

My question:
Unless anyone can come up with a better idea for a simple solution, I was going to replace them. Now, I also need to replace the rotors on the front here soon, so I guess I was wondering how easily front hardware (read: calipers) will fit to the rear. If i'm going to drop change on new calipers, they're going on the wheels that matter.

Edit: sorry, I accidentally clicked post before I had everything written. This is the whole thing.

Front calipers will not fit on the rear because the rear calipers have the e-brake mechanism built in. They are held in place by 2 17mm bolts, and the sliding pins are held in by 2 14mm bolts. Have you done brakes before? 3rd gen brakes (drums excluded) are fairly straightforward and easy to replace.

I've done brakes, not on the max though. The manual says to remove the rear pin bolt and it should rotate upwards. This did not happen. I took out the other bolt. No move. Took off some more bolts, nothing. opened bleeder valve to make sure there was no pressure holding it on, nothing. Used hammer, nothing. The wierd thing is i can easily rotate the hub by hand, so it's not locked up. I just can't get the damn thing off.

It's not really causing a problem except for the horrible sound. The ebrake will still hold on a hill. Oh well...
