use a heat gun and just rip those bad boys off...then you have to use something to remove the adhesive...i used WD40...

i originally took mine off because they were all faded, so i took them off to repaint them. then i noticed how good it looked without them, so it just stayed like that.

Yeah...but aren't they supposed to protect your door from those evil "Dingers" out there?

When I purchased my 91 SE, the only exterior issue was the fading on the spoiler. Otherwise, the car's paint was flawless and without a ding.

After about one month, I noticed a ding on the driver's side. Then, all of a sudden, without warning, I had three dings (minor--nothing big) that would show only if you looked at it from an angle. And I am the one who parks in the far end of the parking lot, just to avoid things like these.

I cried but there was nothing I could do. I guess some people intentionally ding your vehicle if it is in excellent condition. I guess they get jealous.

forget high school! try college, i watch drunk people jumpin on the hoods of cars and stuff. Somone set a suitcase on my roof (when it was parked in the gravel lot) well they had gravel on their suitcase and when they pulled it off the top it left HUGE deep scratches. but believe it or not, that color wax from turtle wax works amazing! oh, when you pull the moldings off, does it leave anything? any residue or anything? i have a black car with black side moldings, do you think it'll even look better?

heck yeah it looks better! it has a more clean look i think. it leaves some adhesive residue that comes off with some rubbing alcohol, or wd40, or whatever you can find that works.

Don't. Don't attempt this cruelty to your car!

yeah its one of the easiest things to do. just take your time when taking off the adhesive residue left over. and its not "cruelty", you can always put them back on.

Don't do this unless....

Don't even bother doing this unless you plan to shave the moldings (filling them in with bondo). It's pointless. It just looks like an indention that used to hold side moldings. Everyone shaves their side moldings because they want to make their doors look like one continuously flat piece of sheetmetal. It's makes the side of the car more asthetically pleasing.

True... but having no moldings is better than having ugly faded moldings.

If you have good paint, then you're ok.
