timing belt broke

Ok timing belt broke after only 5000 miles. well I got around to it today to put another one on to see if i had a few bent valves! Well it seem that i bent every dam one of them . Cylender 4 has 0 compression and the others have 85- 90. Well cylinder 5 has about 150. So im guesing i just bent it a little. They all had about 185 before. Well what luck when some only bend two or three, I bend all of them.

I think I replied to your old post about my old GXE. I got it from a guy that broke the belt. It too had every valve in the heads bent...every single one.

Any time you break a belt on a Max engine when it's running any higher than idle, you WILL bend every valve. not just 1 or 2. every valve. every time.

usually you get lucky and only have to replace the valves, but you might end up having to rework the seats and etc too.

and FYI.. since you're replacing them all anyway, Ferrea makes 1mm oversize valves for this engine.

call your machine shop that's going to do the valve work. they'll be able to get the valves.

as for how much power you'll gain, I can't tell you. depends on how much head work you want to do while you're in there.

my heads are ported and polished now. Did I mess them up?
I was wondering how much more power are the 1mm biger valve going to yeild?

ok first how does a over size valve help you out?
I got my heads apart due to a my timing belt breaking and have to replace the valves. Im think of getting 1mm or 2mm over size will it make more power?
I aready have ported heads before my belt broke. Thanks for any help with this topic.

Well I dont know about with this car but I can give you an example from a small block Chevy. I had a good set of heads on my car that had 1.94 intake 1.5 exhaust. I had an identical set with larger valves (2.02x 1.6) and I could tell a BIG difference. It breathed better and made more power. That was many years ago so no I dont have any dyno numbers but the fact is the more air you can let in the more power you make.

so we would have to report the heads larger for the oversize valves

they just cut the seats I believe...ask your machine shop...honestly i dont know because I never really got into head work besides porting.

If your machinist is someone you really trust then ask his opinion on the larger valves.

Any idea why this might have happened after only 5000 miles?
