Tough freakin engine.. Lasted 2 decades... Even made it to an american car. Took a racing car to success, and can handle up to 600hp on the stock bottom end. The RX7's want them too. Are all engines this amazing?
Poor VE only lasted 3 years

"The VG design was retired in 2004, when Nissan went to the all aluminum VQ series V-6 engine"
Umm, was he referring to 1994? or was that 2004 meaning as in for the Quest and Pathfindy?

1994 max was what he was referring to. 2004 was meant for the quest and pathy.

Also...
"The VE30DE utilizes much common technology found in the present DOHC VG30DE (those suffix letters, by the way indicate dual cams and multipoint injection) engine of today's 300ZX. That includes variable valve timing and a direct ignition system, However, the VE shares no major common components , and its camshafts are driven by chains rather than belts. The engine block is stronger with greater rigidity, but the larger heads have their four valves per cylinder splayed at a relatively narrow 30 degrees to allow the package to snuggle transversely under the Maxima's hood."
