cassette player

My car is Maxima GXE 91 with Bose audio system.
The radio works fine, but when I put a cassette in the head unit turns off. This is my 1st time using. any ideas!

Umm...It is a 15 yr. old head unit....A proper funeral is in order..

If you want to keep the car stock, then i would try the classified section for a used stock hu...

Or go to wallyworld and get a good aftermarket hu...

The cassette mechanism if fouled and drawing too much juice to run. The HU shuts down to save itself from burning up. Since you don't have much to lose you might try taking it apart and see if maybe it's just a belt stuck. My guess is it is bye-bye Bose time.

I know it's old as hell! I dont want to spend any $$$ on it because I may be getting a new car soon! If nothing can be done, I guess I am going to have to live with out the ipod hookup.
