Stripped manifold stud
Stripped manifold stud
I was messin around with my y-pipe on my 4th gen (96) and I stripped a stud from the rear manifold to the y-pipe. Also managed to round off the nut. I have heard that this is a somewhat common problem with 3rd gens and just thought I'd see how many of you go about resolving this.
Thanks
Thanks

The 3rd gen studs that break are from the head to the manifold, not the manifold to the y-pipe, although the general procedure is the same.

oh, alright. any tips on what that procedure is? i picked up a new stud from the dealership but i'm gonna have to get that nut off, drop the y-pipe, and then remove the stud. is there a tool from sears or something that works well for that?

Drill a hole in the center of the stud, use an EZ-Out to extract it, put in new stud, tighten using the double-nut method. Or drill out the snapped stud and use a Heli-coil to set the new one.
