I JUST BOUGHT A 1990 MAXIMA SE AFTER MY 1987 SE WAS TOTALED. I HAVE A COUPLE PROBLEMS. ABOUT EVERY 5 TIMES I START THE CAR THE CLOCK ON THE DASH ACCUALLY WORKS, BUT WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN IT DOESN'T WORK.
MY SECOND QUESTION IS ABOUT MY BOSE SOUND SYSTEM. THE FRONT RIGHT SPEAKER DOESN'T SOUND LIKE IT IS GETTING THE RIGHT SIGNAL BECAUSE IT JUST MAKES A LIGHT STATIC SOUND THE ENTIRE TIME.
THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

I had the same problem, it actually kept the time though, the way I fixed it is I took it apart and resoldered the circuit board and have not had a problem since. Same thing with the climate control unit

Your link is bad! Can you check if you mistyped it or has it been removed? Thanks

Clock

Yeah I think the quartz in my clock is jacked or something, cuz sometimes parts of each number of the time go out.. then I press on it and it works again... my speedomoter and radio don't work right sometimes too, and I have to restar my car to get them to work... I guess minor electrical problems are causing all 3 of these...

The clock has 2 problems. Dry joints and leaky capacitors. (Hmmm, sounds painful). Both can be fixed easily enough if you want to bother. Take the clock out and resolder all the joints on the PCB.

As for the the speedo, it could be the same thing. Easy to fix also. Or you could do what some people have done and have replaced the gauge assembly.

Brent.

Similar problem

My clock and climite control sometimes goes dimmer. When I turn the head ligths on they both go dimmer? ALso the other day my friend driving my car noticed that when he accelerates the head lights go dimmer too? Is this a major auto-electrical problem??? Any one have a clue?

You can start by checking your alternator. Also check to see that your battery terminals are clean and have a good connection. I know it may sound silly, but sometimes, that stuff happens.

Just in case you can't read Matt's little tutorial on this very well-documented Max problem, drop me a line and I'll send it to ya in an e-mail. Link works fine for me!

Enjoy the ride, peeps!!!
